Why Address Management?
Understanding and being able to inform customers and potential service providers about the status of an address is critical for a fiber network operator. In order for customers to place an order, the fiber network operator must know which products and services can be delivered and when.
When an order is received for an address, it is important to be able to link the address together with the order, hardware, customer, and many other parts. Without these connections, it is difficult for anyone to get an overview and to automate the entire order process.
In many cases, the address is the fiber network operator's most important asset. In a wholesale business model, the address is even more central than the customer, from the perspective that the address exists before the customer and the customer can disappear and be replaced by another customer while the address always remains. Managing the address is central to a fiber network operator's business.
What is Address Management?
Address Management includes the ability to create and update addresses in Netadmin via portal, spreadsheets, or API. These addresses are then linked to customers, network infrastructure, tickets, status, product and service offerings, maintenance messages, work orders, and documents, for example.
The addresses usually come from a network design and planning tool. When the addresses are ready for sale, now or in the future, they are imported into Netadmin. Afterwards, the address continues to exist in Netadmin and is expanded with different events, such as:

Address Field Customization in Netadmin
In Netadmin, there is the possibility to activate and deactivate fields related to the address according to your own needs. It is possible to use different types of validation tools on the address data that are checked.

In Netadmin, there are several different types of status, where Built-out Status, Installation Status, and Connection Status are some of the most important. These types of statuses are used differently but enable, for example, the possibility to place an order or register interest on customer portals. They are also central to informing service providers about the status of addresses and when they can expect to be able to place orders.
