Product Lifecycle Policy.

arrow-down-long-light 1
As a part of our Software for Life strategy we strive to continuously provide you with new products and features in a way which makes it easy for you to install, begin to use and benefit from them as they are released. We also aim to strike a good balance between releasing as frequently as is required to address new needs and opportunities while keeping required time and resources for system upgrades at a reasonable level.

We understand how mission critical a Netadmin deployment can be. For that reason we want to provide a clear picture of what you can expect from us in terms of product development and support services during the lifecycle of your Netadmin version and enable you to plan ahead for the next upgrade.

With the above in mind, we have set out Netadmin's Product Lifecycle Policy below to help you better plan and handle how your Netadmin deployment progresses from your current version to the next.

Product lifecycle Policy

Our Product Lifecycle Policy provides predictability around breaking changes while enabling us to deliver new functionality that markets and customers demand, all while maintaining high security and regulatory compliance.

Netadmin offers three types of release updates: Long Term Support (LTS), Short Term Support (STS), and patch releases.

A core principle of our Product Lifecycle Policy is aligning our Long Term Support (LTS) versions with the .NET framework's Long Term Support versions.

Short Term Support (STS) releases deliver new functionality quickly to address rapidly emerging market demands.

This new Product Lifecycle Policy takes effect from 2025-03-31 and with version 9.2. You can find the old one here: Product Lifecycle Policy.

Release Definition

LTS (Long-Term Support) / Full Support (FLTS)

  • Follows the latest .NET LTS version and is fully supported for a maximum of 3 years, after which it transitions to Limited Support.
  • Support Coverage:
    • Service Level Agreement (SLA) provided.
    • Patch releases address critical, major, and minor defects.
    • Paid product advancements and feature updates via change requests are generally evaluated and delivered through STS releases.
    • Minor feature updates may be delivered via change requests on our discretion.

LTS (Long-Term Support) / Limited Support (LLTS)

  • Limited support for 1 year after transitioning from Full Support.
  • Support Coverage:
    • Critical defects are included in patch releases.
    • Major and minor defects are addressed on a time-and-materials (T&M) basis.
    • Feature updates are generally not released.
    • Limited access to paid product advancements in current release, with potential additional charges.

STS (Short-Term Support) / Full and Limited Support (FSTS, LSTS)

  • Usually introduces new and updated features and may include breaking changes.
  • Supported for a minimum of three months (on our discretion) after the release of the next STS version.
  • STS releases are cumulative.
  • Latest STS release follows the same support policies as the LTS (Full or Limited Support).

Patch Release

  • Smaller updates made on a regular basis to fix bugs, security related issues and to introduce smaller non-breaking updates.

Breaking Changes Policy

The Netadmin BSS/OSS Suite undergoes continuous development, with regular feature additions, deprecations, and removals.

During this evolution, Netadmin Systems minimizes impact on existing users and configurations.

However, we occasionally need to introduce breaking changes when no other options remain viable. Essentially we concentrate breaking changes to LTS and may introduce in STS when needed.

To manage this effectively, we've implemented this release policy and formal procedure for handling breaking changes.

This process gives customers a clear schedule to understand potential impacts and plan necessary actions well in advance.

Definition of Breaking Change

Adding new resources, introducing optional parameters, or making mandatory parameters optional doesn't affect existing configurations. However, removing resources or parameters, or making optional parameters mandatory, may disrupt existing configurations and customizations that depend on these components.

This type of change is called a "Breaking Change"—a modification that can disrupt existing configurations and customizations, affecting the functionality of Netadmin BSS/OSS Suite.

Current Schedule

Based on the policy described above please find below a lifecycle schedule that shows the month a certain release will reach different product lifecycle phases.
