The Cloud Journey demonstrates our long-term commitment to continue delivering future-proof solutions that are simple to deploy and maintain.

The transition towards cloud infrastructure and adoption of cloud technologies is a universal trend within the telecommunications industry. The need to improve business agility to react quickly to new challenges, enhance customer satisfaction, and gain control of operational and maintenance spending is compelling operators to develop corporate-wide cloud strategies. In addition, the urge to achieve standardization and adopt TM Forum's Open Digital Architecture (ODA) is further fueling the IT transformation.

Regardless of whether your strategy is to use private or public cloud, or a combination of solutions spanning from on-premises deployment to SaaS solutions, Netadmin is fully committed to supporting our customers in transforming their IT infrastructures. Our journey began as a research project in 2020, sparked by a growing interest in cloud-related topics. It transitioned into a development project in 2022, with a focus on enhancing several key attributes: efficient deployment, rolling updates, performance, scalability, resilience, availability, cloud provider compatibility, and more.

This journey is marked by three major milestones:

1. Containerization: This stage involves modernizing the tech stack, eradicating platform constraints and legacy technologies to run Netadmin in containers on any Linux-based environment compliant with the OCI standard. This step aims to ensure long-term performance and reliability by preparing the system for future container orchestration. A more efficient deployment and configuration process is also part of this phase. Containerization offers several benefits, including portability, isolation, environmental consistency, security, application performance monitoring, and resource utilization. The first milestone will culminate in the release of the Netadmin 9.2 platform.

2. Container Orchestration: In this phase, Netadmin components will be modified, and additional supporting components will be added to enable scalability, load balancing, and redundancy. It also sets the stage for orchestrated clustered/scalable deployments (e.g., using Kubernetes). Container orchestration unleashes the full potential of cloud technologies by automating provisioning and deployment, scaling, load balancing, and resource allocation, which greatly simplifies operations.

3. Cloud Deployment: The final milestone involves enabling deployments in PaaS environments such as Azure AKS, Amazon EKS, Google GKE, etc. The hosting and management may be accomplished by Netadmin or other potential future undertakings, possibly in the form of SaaS or managed services. Regardless of the operator's cloud strategy, we stand ready to sharpen and shape our offerings to support customers in the transition to cloud technologies.
