Leveraging cloud-native and Open Digital Architecture for better B/OSS agility

When operators and CSPs (Communication Service Providers) are asked how they envision their future B/OSS landscape, adopting cloud-native solutions is generally the top choice.

When operators are asked how they would like to structure their IT solutions, many emphasize a desire to combine applications and features from an ecosystem of vendors to form a unified whole, where each application or function provides the best value in its domain.

The rationale behind these answers underscores agility, flexibility, reduced time and cost of integration, maintenance, and upgrades, and a shift away from a "spaghetti" of integrations and applications not originally designed to collaborate.

The Open Digital Architecture (ODA) has become the enabler for many operators' visions. It promotes a whole new way of building, combining, deploying, and operating cloud-native applications and functions that have been designed for interoperability from day one. Simply put, when new demands arise, such as new requirements on the product catalog, the operator can more easily replace or upgrade this part of the solution without the need for complex and costly reintegration.

This cannot be achieved without a robust, standardized API, information models, and definitions framework. The core of ODA comprises the Information Framework (SID), the Functional Framework, and a standardized set of Open APIs. Open APIs are the glue that keeps everything together, ensuring that different applications can communicate.

Netadmin is on a path toward TM Forum standardization, which is already evident in many of our solutions. Our Open API implementation project incorporates the standardization of information models, new ways of developing features, and decoupling functions. This is one of the projects with no fixed end date, indicating the need to support new APIs and versions as they become public continuously.

We are also proud members of the "Standardizing Wholesale Broadband – Fibre Access (BFA)" project. This underscores our commitment to actively contributing to developing new Open API specifications and sharing our extensive knowledge of the fiber industry.
